KARUNA OBRUM EDUCATION (KOE) PROJECT

Bringing Quality Education to Communities “Where the Asphalt Ends”

The Karuna Obrum Education (KOE) Project works to improve access to quality education for children and young people from rural, vulnerable, and economically disadvantaged communities in Cambodia. The project combines education support with teacher development, health, nutrition, inclusion, and improved learning environments.

🌟 Our Impact

From exclusion → to opportunity

From distance → to access

From vulnerability → to inclusion

From limited resources → to stronger schools

From dependence → to local capacity

From “where the asphalt ends” → to where every child can learn

“Bringing quality education to every child, wherever they live.”

About the Project

For many children living in remote rural communities, distance, poverty, limited resources, and difficult living conditions can become barriers to quality education. KOE was developed to reach children in these communities—“where the asphalt ends.”

The project does more than provide school support. It works with children, parents, teachers, school leaders, and local communities to create an environment where children can learn, stay in school, and develop their potential.

In 2026, for example, the project supported 61 children at Baydamram Community Kindergarten and constructed a new, safe kindergarten building after identifying that the previous wooden classroom was no longer suitable.

The project also provided rice support to 309 Grade 6 students, helping vulnerable families reduce food-related pressures that can contribute to school absence and dropout.

🎯 Project Goal: To provide better access to quality education for children and young students from rural and vulnerable backgrounds.

🤝 Project Mission: To help children who face barriers to education stay in school, learn effectively, and develop the knowledge and skills they need for a better future, while strengthening teachers, families, schools, and communities to create sustainable improvements in education.
